Tara Briscoe
Tara is a 500+ hour certified yoga teacher with a restless, curious spirit and a lifelong fascination with human behavior, culture, and life beyond the small town of Bellport where she grew up. First drawn to yoga in 1999, she quickly discovered the practice as a path of movement, discipline, and self-inquiry, and later a philosophy that helps steady the mind and deepen presence.
Her studies span art and humanities, science, anatomy, nursing and medicine, multiple yoga trainings, and ongoing workshops that continue to shape her evolving approach to teaching and living. She feels most grounded in nature, inspired by animals and the outdoors, and the connection between nature and self-awareness. Tara’s classes are thoughtful, welcoming, and engaging, blending styles, storytelling, and the origins of postures to make yoga both meaningful and accessible. Her teaching is lighthearted, encouraging, and gently challenging, often incorporating breath-work, chanting, and Om to cultivate connection and community.
In addition to her yoga certifications, she has studied Vedic mantra, prenatal, partner, and children’s yoga, mental health crisis training, and Reiki Level II healing. She also holds a degree in fine art, is CPR certified, and is a New York State Licensed Practical Nurse. Above all, Tara considers motherhood, interpersonal relationships and daily life her greatest teachers, where the true depth and practice of yoga continue to unfold.
“The success of Yoga does not lie in the ability to perform postures but in how it positively changes the way we live our life and our relationships." – The Heart of Yoga, TKV Desikachar
